What are PenguinSiliBands?

PenguinSiliBands are customizable silicone identification bands for penguins under human care. Available in a wide range of colours, they're perfect for identification of individuals without compromising welfare.

Designed for Professional Use

Our silicone penguin bands are intended for use by trained zoo and aquarium staff and should only be fitted during routine, approved handling procedures. Correct fitting involves gently sliding the band down the flipper without overstretching the material, ensuring a secure and comfortable placement. When positioned close to the bird’s body, with the narrower edge aligned along the flipper’s trailing edge, the band allows normal movement while supporting reliable identification.

Animal welfare is paramount. These bands are not suitable for use by untrained personnel.

What size do I need?

We provide some guidance on this, listing which band we know has been used with which species, but please also pay attention to the measurement provided (both internal and external lengths). The size guide will be improved as we gather more information but please be aware that it is your responsibility to order the appropriate size for your birds. How do I personalize my band?

You select the colour and indicate the required characters during the order process. We will then make each band especially for you.

What countries do you ship to?

We ship to the UK, Europe, the United States, and Canada. Shipping costs and delivery times vary by location and tariff rates and how many bands you order.

How long will delivery take?

Delivery times depend on your location. UK orders typically arrive within 3-5 business days, while international orders may take 7-14 business days, though it can take longer depending on your local shipping provider. These estimates are for shipping times only. As bands are made to order, the dispatch time may take some time. If you have an urgent request please contact us before ordering.

What is your return policy?

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you're not happy with your order, please contact us within 14 days of receipt so that we can find the correct resolution for you. As the bands are bespoke, we would not normally request they are returned, but would ask for images clearly showing the issue.

Can I order in bulk or for wholesale?

We do not offer wholesale purchases as we sell directly to you, our penguin friends. However, if you are ordering a large number of bands we may be able to offer a discount. Please contact us before placing your order. (Discounts are at the discretion of PenguinSiliBands).

How do I care for my silicone band?

Silicone bands do not require any special care once fitted. It is important when fitting them not to overstretch them as they do have a breaking point - useful to avoid birds getting caught and trapped on enclosure furniture / fittings by the band. If any do break whilst you re fitting them please contact us straight away.

What happens during moult?

In most cases the bands can remain on the birds throughout moult, but it is important to keep an eye on your birds to ensure the bands are not too tight during this period. It is the responsibility of your team to monitor this.
