These individual bands are made of silicone rubber and are available in two colours of your choice from those available.
To fit King Penguins.
Tested in both chlorinated and unchlorinated water. Similar bands have been used in saltwater systems in the past and have proven durable.
- Minimum of 5 bands - but you can mix and match a cross our range.
A custom option can be specially produced if you require more options. Please email (penguinsilibands@outlook.com) your requirements for a custom quote.
Special orders will take a little longer to fulfil but we will endeavour to do so within three weeks from payment.
More information
The bands can be left on the birds throughout the moulting period as they will not cause restriction and are soft enough to allow for the swelling during moult. They do not cause any feather damage or wear during the year (in our experience) and can be used with confidence.
If the birds manage to snag the band on vegetation within the habitat they should be able to free themselves either by pulling to the bands breaking point or pulling the band off. (We have had intact bands come off the birds occasionally, in which case they can simply be re-fitted. But for this reason, these bands should not be considered a permanent identifier)
